Problem-Solution paragraph

Smoking in public is becoming a more serious problem because of the second hand smoking. People that do not smoke inhale the smoke of other people and that can also result in health problems even if we do not realize it right away.
 A solution to this problem would be for people to avoid smoking in places with a lot of people or creating specific areas for smokers.

Movie:Still Breathing

The movie is directed by James Ford Robinson, an American filmmaker who began his career in San Antonio, Texas, by making short films and dramatic documentaries. The first movie he wrote and directed was Still Breathing and he chose to film part of it in San Antonio. The movie was nominated for the Grand Prize of the Americans but did not win any prize. Apart from this movie he did not direct another one, just documentaries.

Favourite Movies

   ‘’Edward Scissorhands’’ is a heartwarming movie that I like because it relaxes me a lot when I watch it. The movie is about a man who died before finishing his creation, a boy, and the boy remained with scissors instead of hands. A kind family later adopts him and he falls in love with the daughter.

         ‘’Secret Window’’ is a thriller that I like because it has an interesting story and it shows Johnny’s acting abilities because he has to play a double personality character. The movie is about a frustrated writer that starts to be surrounded by strange happenings.

Oscars

    The Oscars is an annual American cinematography awards ceremony which consists on various categories such as: best directing, best costume design, best leading actor/actress and many more. The winners are awarded a copy of a statue, the Oscar.

    The first presentation was held on May 16^th, 1929 and awarded fifteen people from the film making industry. The ceremony was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and ran for 15 minutes.

     The ceremony is live televised usually in late February or early March but the Academy is contemplating to move it back into January. 

Hollywood

The history of Hollywood began in the 20th century. Hollywood was considered a cultural icon emphasizing luxury and the face of the American cinema. Movie studios also appeared because of Hollywood, and this made America’s image in the movie industry even better. Some famous movie studios that were created in those times were:  Warner Brothers Pictures, Paramount and 20th Century Fox. The apparition of Hollywood also benefited movie stars and directors, the directors had a more important role in the movie making and the actor gained more fame from making the movies. In the year 1930 Hollywood reached its greatest fame because new genres of movies started to appear. People were bored of their daily life and searched to escape from reality; they could do this only by watching movies and the new genres like action or fantasy helped them. 

Saint Andrew

    Saint Andrew was a fisherman and also one of the twelve disciples chosen by Jesus. He was crucified on a cross in the shape of an X, the Saltire.  The Picts and Scots fought a battle against the Angles and the leader of the Scots the night before the battle said that if they were to win the battle then Saint Andrew would become the Patron Saint of Scotland. They won and then the emblem of Saint Andrew, an X on a blue background, became the flag of Scotland. November 30th is his feast day and it is celebrated worldwide.

Statue of Liberty

    The statue of Liberty has made many movie appearances, in some of them it has even appeared on the cover, like for example on the cover of the movie ‘’The Day After Tomorrow’’ we can see the statue emerging from the snow. The movie is about an apocalyptic disaster and it’s not the first time that the statue is featured in this kind of movie. The statue also appeared in the movie ‘’2012’’ and ‘’Cloverfield’’, the last one being about an alien invasion.

Action movies like ‘’X men’’ also featured the statue of liberty in their fight scenes and it even appeared in animated movies like ‘’An American Tail’’.

Zoos

I don’t agree with zoos being a good way of saving endangering species. Most zoos are over-priced places that sometimes even mistreat animals and people only use them to gain money for themselves. They use animals as an attraction or even use them for shows from time to time. Sometimes they even try to teach animals tricks and in order to do that they beat them up. We can’t be sure that all zoos treat animals good, we can’t even be sure if the animals eat fairly there. I understand that people are trying to conserve species so that’s why they created the zoos, but I think that for doing this they are really narrow minded. If humans were to disappear, would you like to be kept in an artificial environment and live like that until someday you die? I don’t think so.  We are mostly talking about savage animals, animals that were not born in captivity and lived free for hundreds of years, so let’s just think about it, are they really happy being held in captivity? I think that they would be happier living free. I think they only bring endangered species to the zoos to gain money from people that go to see them because they think it’s something spectacular seeing a species that is about to disappear. In my opinion it would be better if we tried helping the animals in a way that they needn’t be kept captive.

Online Games

In the past I used to play a lot of online games like for example MMORPG ones but I slowly stopped playing them because as you reached a certain level it got just more and more difficult to play it. What I mean is that in many games in order to continue playing you had to gain points, usually by paying them, to buy certain items that would help you with your quests or to level up. It is a shame to abandon a game after many days of playing it because of reasons like those but in the end you get tired of not being able to do anything if you do not pay it with real money.

Essay: Mobile Phones

Nowadays almost everyone has a mobile phone and to some people it has become a necesity to own one. The mobile phone was created to make our life easier but in some cases there are mor negative parts than positive ones.

When we talk about the advantages these new technologies gave us, we can say that it made communication way easier and quicker than in the past and you can also use a mobile in emergency cases or simply for taking videos or photos.

In contrast, there are many disadvantages and some are even related to health. Using a mobile phone for a long period of time can result unhealthy,both physically and mentally. Another bad point is that in many cases your privacy is violated or by spending so much time on the mobile you forget to socialize in the real world.

To sum up, there are many good aspects as well as bad ones but I think that everyone should be responsable of their own acts.

Places I would like to visit

In the future I hope to be able to visit a lot of places, especially countries in Asia like Japan or South Korea. If I have the chance I would like to work overseas and not always in the same places since I love travelling a lot, but the reason because of why I am really interested in visiting those countries it is because of their interesting culture. Another reason is that I really like how the languages sound and I would love to learn how to speak them. I have an aunt that lives in Asia, in Hong Kong, and she always tells me that the culture there is very different from here but she likes it anyways so I am really curious.

    So I really hope that in the future I will have the chance to visit at least one of those countries.

Goals

     In the future I would like to study something diferent from what I am doing right now. I always liked art and all the things related to art and I would want to study things like: design, make up, artistic drawing, and so on. Instead of finding a job in which I have to work all day in an office I would like to be able to travel and not do everyday the same things because I hate routine.
    I think life is too short and you should enjoy it by doing the things you like the most because later if you do not you will regret it.
   

Descriptive paragraph

     In this image we can see a big house in the woods that seems to be abandoned and a spooky Halloween scenery. At the right of the image there are some jack o' lanters and a black cat right beside them. There is a full moon on the sky and the house is surrounded by mist. We can also see some bats flying right on top of the house.

Introduction and conclusion paragraph: The benefits of doing exercise

Introduction:

     Exercising frequently is demonstrated to improve a lot of things in ourselves, for example: it makes you more active and less stressed in your daily life, it helps you burn calories,build muscles and mantain your physic, and it is also a good way to pass time and socialize doing something entertaining and fun with your friends while growing your self esteem.

Conclusion:

   By doing exercise at least once a week you can improve your self esteem, physic and maintain your mind chill in an entertaining way that helps you socialize more with people.

Thesis statement: Second hand smoking

   Second hand smoking is just as bad as smoking or even worse because the person who inhales the smoke is not aware of it but, in contrast, when a person smokes he does it because he wants to.

Weekend

     This weekend was really fun. On Saturday I went to the '' Murcia Salón del manga'' with some friends and had a lot of fun there. '' Salón del manga'' is an event which takes place every year and it consists of a gathering of people who like anime and manga doing a lot of activities like singing, dancing and many more. I went to watch the dance competition and I have to say that it was really cool, all the contestants danced really well.
     On Sunday I started watching a television series named ''Scream Queens''directed by the same person who made ''American Horror Story''. It is a great series and it combines comedy with horror, the genres that I like the most. The series is still ongoing and it will be completed on December!
  To sum up, this weekend I had a lot of fun.

Halloween

Once again this year I have spent Halloween with my friends throwing a little party and  watching horror movies while eating snacks. We watched six parts of the movie '' Halloween'' and honestly I have to say that after the second part the movie only gets worse and worse. I don't really see the point in making so many sequels for horror movies; the same thing happened with ''Saw'', Friday 13th '' ,''Scream'' and ''Final Destination''. Personally out of all the movies I have mentioned before I enjoyed the last two the most because even if the plot was mostly the same in each sequel, the characters changed, for example, in Halloween in almost every part we see the same victims and the same killer.
To sum up, I enjoyed speding this Halloween with my friends and I am excited because Christmas is near the corner.

Conmparison and Contrast paragraph: Summer and Winter.

There are many people that don’t like winter because it is to cold. In contrast there are a lot of people that prefer winter to summer. Winter always seems quieter; people tend to prefer it because of the holydays, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and winter vacations in general. Also in winter even though it is cold many people like to get cozy in their homes watching a movie and staying warm or going out when snowing. Winter is also a good season for spending time in family.

On the other hand in summer because of the heat you have to spend almost all of the time at the beach or at the mountain to freshen up. In summer there are a lot of places you can go to like: parties, festivals, trips and it’s also a good season to spend time with your friends.

Both seasons are good and have their pro and cons but that depends on everyone’s personal preferences. 

Rick and Morty

 

 Rick and Morty is an American animated series for adults broadcasted on the channel Adult Swim. This series was relased in 2013 and recently the second season ended but it was announced back in August that the series was reneewd for a third season. I really liked this cartoon,in my opinion it had comedy, good jokes and an original plot that attracts viewers.
The story goes on about an eccentric scientist,Rick, that moves in his daughters house and takes his grandson Morty on a lot of adventures in space and alternate universes. In each episode their lives are put in danger but at the end they manage to survive somehow. I laughed a lot while watching Rick and Morty and I highly recommend it to people to watch it because it won't be a waste of time.
  The third season will be out in 2016 and I can't wait for it to be out as the second season ended in a cliffhanger.

Opinion paragraph

Video games

I have recently read an article about parents thinking that video games are way too violent for children and that it is video games what make their kids have an aggressive behavior. I absolutely disagree with this as I think that parents are capable enough of educating their children. It is absurd to blame a game, which kids cannot even afford without the parents buying it for them, for a person’s violent behavior. Each game comes with a parental advisory for explicit content, or it indicates the age your child must have to play it so it is the parents fault for buying the video game for them. In my opinion  you cannot blame games or similar things for the way your children act, instead try to educate them, show them what it’s right, what it’s not and if you think that video games are to blame don’t buy them.

Holland lops

      Recently I was thinking about getting a holland lop bunny as a pet. I've liked rabbits since I was young and always wanted to get one but I never had the chance to. Bunnies are very fragile animals and also they easily get scared so you have to take good care of them. It's important to know how to feed them correctly and it's esential for them to have enough space to live and play in. Holland lops are said to be less aggresive and to have a sweet temperament so I'm really interested in getting one. But I guess that first I'll do more research on how to take good care of rabbits and maybe ask some specialists because having a pet, and a fragile one like a rabbit, is a big responsability.

Last movie I've watched

Death Becomes Her

The last movie I've seen is ''Death Becomes Her'', a fantasy comedy from 1992. In this movie we can find famous actors and actresses like Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, playing the lead roles.

 The movie is mainly about two women who drink a potion to become immortal, get back and maintain their beauty and youth. 

Honestly I think it's important to be pleased with your appearance and body but I see many people that judge other people who undergo plastic surgery or wear a lot of make up and that's really absurd. If doing things like that make other people confident then what's the problem?

I think I'm just being realistic, I mean, I don't know about immortality but who wouldn't want to remain beautiful and look  young as long as possible like in the movie I've mentioned above? 

The world we live in is really selfish although we sometimes fail to notice it.

New Technologies

     In this text I'm going to talk about new technologies and if they're a good or a bad thing for our society.

      In my opinion new technologies are mostly a positive thing because nowdays people can communicate, do housework more easily or even attend school virtually, things which were imposible in the past. New technologies are always a good thing if they're used for entertainment (such as television,video games,transport) or simply to help people ease their work at school, jobs, etc. Of course this topic can also have its many negative features, for example: not all the people in the world have access to things like computers, cellphones ( only to name a few of them ). Another negative thing is that people sometimes tend to become dependent or even addicted to those new technologies ,which is more common to happen among teenagers ( some cases even took to depression and anxiety).

      In conclusion I think that new technologies are mostly a good thing and it depends on people and society for them to become a bad thing.
